James C. Sprouse – Retired Elder serving Huguenot United Methodist Church.
Pastor Sprouse has been under appointment as a UM pastor since July 1973. He’s served a wide variety of churches from a rural charge of 4 churches to multi-staff churches, ten years in the Richmond area and 33 years in northern Virginia. He also served as pastor of a Methodist congregation in Newcastle under Lyme, a city in England.
While serving United Christian Parish in Reston, VA Pastor Sprouse was a member of the Medical Ethics Team at Reston Hospital. He has served as a police chaplain for both Fairfax and Henrico County police.
From 1991 to 2003 he was adjunct faculty at Union Theological Seminary where he taught Doctrine and Polity to the United Methodist students.
Jim (as he likes to be called) holds bachelor and master degrees from the University of Virginia, and his Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary. He was ordained Deacon in 1979 and Elder in 1980.
Pastor Sprouse co-authored a book with Peet van Biljon, Profit with a Higher Purpose, A Christian Guide to Business Leadership (2017).
Jim is married to Mary (Molly) Carpenter Sprouse who is from the Richmond area. As for children: Catherine and her spouse (Ellen) live in Arlington and have a farm near Frederick, MD. Emily and her spouse (Mariusz)  live in Ashburn, VA and have three children: Julia, and Bridget and Henryk, who are twins. Patrick and his spouse (Tina) live in Raleigh, NC and have two children: Ashlynn and Charlotte.
Jim’s hobby is birding….he’s an avid birder who posts daily on Facebook.
