*Call to Worship

My Heart is Filled with Thankfulness The Choir
Leader: Unless God is our strength, we are weak.
People: Unless God is our peace, we are at war.
Leader: Unless God is our health, we are sick.
People: Unless God is our purpose, we wander aimlessly.
Leader: Unless God is the very ground of our lives, we are not really living.
All: Unless God is at the center of our worship, we worship in vain. Let us worship God, who is our strength, peace, health and purpose – the center of our lives and worship.

All praise to you, most holy and gracious God! You have set us free from fear and filled us with good things. You surprise us with your grace and give us all we need. Even when we lose sight of your ways, you pull us back to you, and overwhelm us ever again, reminding us of your power, your compassion, and your justice. All praise to you, our triune God, now and forever.  Amen.

Call to Confession

Christ came into the world to save us from sin, once and for all.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice for us, God waits in mercy to forgive.

Let us confess our sins before God and one another.

Our Prayer of Common Confession

Holy God, forgive us when we think too highly of ourselves

and clamor after privilege and honor.

Forgive us, Lord, when we cannot lift our gaze

            because we do not believe we have anything to give.

You have given us the best gift of all:

            freedom from all that harms us and the way to abundant life.

Have mercy on our foolishness and heal our lovesick hearts

            that we may live faithfully for you.

In the name of Jesus, we pray.  Amen.

All offer prayers of confession in silence.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Christ who is our high priest,

Made himself a sacrifice once and for all,

for the forgiveness of sins.

Therefore, be reconciled to God.

Sin no more and do all things to the glory of God.

In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are forgiven.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

you are forgiven.

Glory be to God, now and forevermore.  Amen.

Sermon          By the Grace of God

Pastor Gay Hall

*Affirmation of Faith    The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The Gloria Patri

  Glory be to the Father

  and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

  as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

  world without end.  Amen.
