Call to Confession

God has promised to make of us a new creation, laying to rest the former things, making all things new. Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sins before God and one another.

Our Prayer of Common Confession

Almighty Lord and God, in Jesus Christ

you came from heaven to dwell among us,

calling us to be your faithful people.

Yet, we remain shrouded in sin –

we hurt and disgrace ourselves;

we abuse and destroy one another;

we dishonor your holy name.

Forgive us; unbind us and let us go

so that we may stand among your saints,

rejoicing in your saving grace;

through Jesus Christ our redeemer.  Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Listen!  The one who is seated on the throne says:

See, I am making all things new.

And now it is finished!  Hear the good news:

In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

Glory be to God.  Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed

  I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;

  And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

  I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The Gloria Patri

  Glory be to the Father

  and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

  as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

  world without end.  Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

FOR ALL SAINTS SUNDAY

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing,

always and everywhere to give thanks to you,

Almighty God,

Creator of heaven and earth:

God of Abraham and Sarah,

God of Miriam and Moses,

God of Joshua and Deborah,

God of Ruth and David,

God of the priests and the prophets,

God of Mary and Joseph,

God of the apostles and the martyrs,

God of our mothers and our fathers,

God of our children to all generations.

And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven,

we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.

By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection

you gave birth to your Church,

delivered us from slavery to sin and death,

and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.

On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread,

gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples,

and said:

“Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.”

       Sharing the Bread and Cup

Closing Communion Prayer

The earth belongs to you, O God, the world and all its people.  For the blessings of this life and the gift of your salvation, we give you thanks and praise.  As you have sought us out to save us, help us to seek your face among our neighbors so that all may know the wonder of your love;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
